Digital simulations for resistance to progress are carried out with the ICARE computing code, resolving the Navier-Stokes equations for a free area. These studies are used to compute the total resistance and dynamic attitude of the hulls of the vessels for different loading conditions and different speeds. Hydrostatic and hydrodynamic analysis of the behaviour of the vessels, through the stability design, is used to optimise the sea behaviour of the vessel irrespective of the sailing conditions encountered.
