Introduction

ECOCEANE is a Company created in 2003 working exclusively in the area of research, development and construction of ships designed for the collection of floating hydrocarbons and solid waste. The Company has its own design office and shipyard specialized in aluminium construction.

Studies on the existing means of fighting marine pollution showed that:

« Despite the huge quantity of equipments and ship mobilised (on the sea to fight an oil spill) only a small quantity of hydrocarbons is really recovered. Whatever powerful the pumps are, current oil spill fighting equipments cannot prevent the emulsification of the oil with sea water. The hydrocarbon storage capacity was adapted to the recovery ability, but insufficient in case of major spills. »
